How does teletherapy work?

Teletherapy sessions are held online using a secure video platform (I use HIPAA compliant Zoom!) I provide engaging, interactive activities that are designed to keep your child motivated and involved—just like in-person therapy, but from the comfort of your home. You’ll only need a stable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone, and a quiet space.

How long are therapy sessions?

Sessions are usually 30 minutes long. In some cases, shorter (20 minutes) or longer sessions (45 minutes) may be recommended based on the child’s attention span, age, or specific goals. With speech sound disorders, more frequent practice with shorter duration is the most impactful!

What ages do you work with?

I work with children ages 4 and up who are experiencing speech sound challenges—especially those needing support with articulation and the R sound. While teletherapy can be incredibly effective, it works best for children who are able to participate with some independence, follow simple directions, and engage with fun, interactive activities on a screen.

If you're unsure whether your child is ready for teletherapy, I’m happy to chat and help you decide what’s best!

Will I need to be present during the session?

That depends on your child’s age. For younger children, I may ask you to be nearby to help with engagement or technical issues. For older kids, it’s usually fine if they’re independent. I always keep families updated and involved, whether you're in the room or not.

How long will my child need speech therapy?

Every child is different. Factors like age, severity of the speech challenge, and consistency of practice all play a role. That said, my approach is designed to be efficient and effective—I’ll keep you informed of your child’s progress and adjust the plan as needed. I know this is a huge investment. On average, I see my clients for 12-18 months.

What do I need to get started?

Just reach out via my contact page to book a free consultation. I’ll guide you through the next steps, including a brief intake process and scheduling your first session. An evaluation conducted by a speech language pathologist is crucial to guide treatment. If your child has already participated in an assessment within the last year, that should suffice! Otherwise, we can conduct the evaluation virtually.
